Everything we serve is cooked from scratch in our own kitchen, and the blackboard menu changes with the seasons — Northumbrian lamb and beef, game in autumn, fish from the coast, and herbs, vegetables and soft fruit from the cottage gardens.
Lunch is served 12–2 and dinner 6–8, Wednesday to Sunday, with Sunday lunch a fixture for miles around. We’re a small kitchen in a quiet village, so booking a table is always a good idea.
No fuss and no foams, just generous plates of proper food, cooked the way it always has been at the Pheasant. Think pies with crisp pastry and rich gravy, tender Northumbrian lamb, a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and puddings worth saving room for.
It’s the kind of cooking that brings regulars back week after week, and has walkers planning their route around lunch.

We’re sorry, but we don’t take dogs anywhere in the inn, including the bar. Assistance dogs are welcome by prior arrangement — please contact us before your visit so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
