The Pheasant Inn
Pub with rooms near Kielder Water
Tucked into the North Tyne valley at Stannersburn, The Pheasant Inn is a pub with rooms for people who come to Northumberland for the quiet. Spend the day walking the Lakeside Way or cycling forest trails, then come back to a warm bar, a proper pint and a seat by the fire, with your room a few steps away.
After dark, step outside into some of the darkest skies in England. On a clear night the Milky Way hangs right above our courtyard garden, no telescope needed.

A proper Northumberland inn, run by the same family for forty years
Walter and Irene Kershaw took on a run-down farmhouse pub in 1985 and made it what it is today: stone walls, oak beams, open fires and a welcome that regulars drive an hour for. Four decades on it is still a family business, still cooking from scratch, and still the last proper inn before the forest.
